Usage rules can automatically be added to a SIM during activation or anytime after the SIM is activated. Because of the flexibility of rules, SIMs may have more than one. Your rules can be as complex or simple as you need.

Refer to the rule management article for table information.
Usage rule types
You can create usage rules at the SIM (subscription) level or the pooled plan total usage level. Each rule tracks usage separately. You can add as many rules as you need to monitor or block usage.
Usage received from the carrier after the end of the billing period (23rd) will be added to the usage timelines but will not trigger emails or block usage.
Rule type |
Description |
SIM level threshold |
The rule monitors the usage of a SIM or a group of SIMS. You can either manually assign the rule to SIMs, or have it automatically apply the rule to all current and future SIMs based on the customized parameters. The rule can be applied to SIMs regardless of the type of plan (non-pooled and pooled plans). We recommend this option to easily monitor all SIM usage without manually adding or removing usage rules from SIMs; adjust the rules as needed. Create a usage rule for each plan, and you are done! Note: Individual SIMs cannot be removed from this type of rule. |
Pooled level threshold | Usage rule A pooled plan rule allows you to monitor the total usage for a pooled plan. You have two options:
|
RADIUS session rule | the RADIUS rules monitor the number of sessions, not usage. Refer to the RADIUS session rule article. |

Note: A disabled alert will still show on the SIM Usage Details page.

Remove an alert rule
Account > Account Information > Alert Management - Remove Alert
Removing an alert will remove the alert from all ICCIDs it is assigned to.
Tip: If you need to move the plan or SIMs to another alert, we recommend selecting Update Alert first and taking screenshots of SIM lists or plans before removing the rule.
Rule emails (courtesy alerts)
The subject line of the usage alert email will state whether it is a subscription (SIM) or plan (pooled plan) alert and the name of the alert rule.
