What is activating a SIM?
Activation and reactivation
The activation process is used to activate or reactivate SIMs.
Options | Explanation |
Activation | Activation includes selecting plans and features using an activation profile and setting rules (alerts) for a SIM moving from stock state to active, test, or ready state. Exception: Activating from test or ready state to active will not include plan and feature selection. Test and ready are not available for all service types. |
Reactivation | Reactivating a SIM changes it from an inactive status (deactivated, suspended, suspended with charge, pending scrap) back to active. You can reactivate using the existing plans and features or select a new activation profile. Unselect the box to add a new activation profile. ![]() |

SIM states | SIM state availability other than active (test or ready) depends on the service type and your contract. |
Activation profiles | These should be created before activation. AP includes:

Usage rules | These should be created before activation. Options include:

Additional fields | Additional fields allow you to add custom information to your SIMs inventory. Additional fields are optional and a separate process but recommended after activation as part of your process flow. |

Paste a list
The section includes:
- All service types except KORE VZW and KORE APEX
- KORE VZW and KORE APEX - IMEI
- KORE VZW - SKU
- ICCID Validation
Use this option when provisioning a large number of SIMs from Quick Links or the Subscription table.
All service types except KORE VZW and KORE APEX
Subscriptions > Activate
Quick Links > Activate
You can paste your list of devices following the format listed on the page. Upload is not available. You can paste a maximum of 3000 ICCIDs. You cannot use special characters or spaces. Select Done after pasting your list.
If you receive an error message, fix the list on the page and select Done for the system to revalidate. You must clear any error messages before you can proceed. Skip to ICCID validation.
KORE VZW and KORE APEX - IMEI
Quick Links > Activate
You must include an IMEI for each ICCID added to the list (see formatting example on the screen) and select Done. Fix any length and character validation errors, then select Done again until the list is accepted. Skip to ICCID validation.
KORE VZW - SKU
Quick Links > Activate
The SKU must be certified to the device with the carrier before it will be accepted during the activation process. ConnectivityPro will only verify the field format. The carrier will validate the SKU once the request is received by them.
Note: SKU must be 20 characters (alphanumeric, no special characters).
ICCID Validation
The system will validate the ICCIDs against your inventory.
Validation results | Description |

If you do not want to update the list and ignore the invalid ICCID, select Continue to move to the next provisioning step. ![]() |
Accepted | These ICCIDs are eligible for provisioning. Select Continue to move to the next provisioning step.![]() |
Select features (activation profile)
You can either select an existing activation profile from the list or create a new one.
Note: eSIM resilience product offers will require you to activate both profiles (operational and fallback).
Activation profile | Description |
New | Refer to the activation profile article. |
Existing | All options auto-populate. You cannot make any changes. Exception: KORE T-USA - if the profile does not include the NGP, you will need to add it to continue. |
Select usage rules
Currently, the only rule type available is usage. A usage rule is the same as a usage alert. The usage rule list will only include usage alerts for the service type and plan type of the SIMs you are activating.
Note: You cannot create an alert during the activation process, and applicable subscription rules will be added automatically.
No rules
You will receive the above message if there are no alerts for that service type or plan type. You can either select cancel to create a new alert and then activate your SIMs or continue the activation and add the alerts afterward.

Hover over the icons to see the details of the alert. A disabled icon means that the feature is not part of that alert.
