Grouping devices is an important part of the SecurityPro process. A device must be added to a Group before a Rule can be assigned to trigger alerts.
Grouping devices helps you keep devices together that behave similarly or keep them together for specific reasons such as devices located in the same region.
Watch a short video or use the following steps to assist you in creating a Group.
- Select Groups from the navigator.
- Click Create Group located on the top right of the Groups page.
- Enter a name for this new Group.
Important! Take note of the Group name that you enter so that you can quickly locate this Group later.
- Click Create Group.
The view returns to the Groups page. - Verify the Group was added by entering the new Group name in the search field to locate the new Group.
- Click the Group name to view details about the Group. Because the Group is new, no devices or rules have been assigned and no reports are available; therefore, no details are shown in either of the sections.
You can now add devices to this Group and assign a rule.
Important! You can have multiple devices in a Group. Although, the same device cannot be in multiple groups.
Setting a Group as Default
Located at the top of the Groups page is the Set to Default button. An account can have one default Group. New SIMs are automatically added to the Group that is set as the default Group.
To set a Group as the default for your account, go to the Groups page and select Set to Default.
